Nicole Martin was only eight years old when the vampire slaves rose up in rebellion and killed her family. Now she devotes her life to finding a vaccine against vampirism, hoping to wipe out her memories--along with every bloodsucker on the planet. But there's one thing she cannot destroy: her searing, undeniable attraction for the one man she should hate and fear the most.

A member of the renegade vampire MoonBound Clan, Riker is haunted by demons of his own. When he recognizes Nicole and remembers how her family enslaved his loved ones, his heart burns for vengeance. But when he kidnaps Nicole and holds her in a secret lair, his mortal enemy becomes his sole obsession, his greatest temptation, and, perhaps, his only salvation--a hot-blooded lover who could heal him with her touch . . . or bury him forever.

I’ve missed reading Larissa Ione. I love her Demonica series and I keep meaning to read her Lords of Deliverance series, and I will but first let me tell ya how much I enjoyed BOUND BY NIGHT, the first book in her new MoonBound Clan Vampire series.

With so many vampire books out there it’s easy to get bored with them. But every once in a while there comes along a series that has a fresh twist on the creatures and Larissa Ione has delivered a paranormal world with a different kind of vampire. Sure they have fangs, they’re fast and most importantly they’re sexy.

You have born and turned vampires. Not really new. But the origins of where Ione’s vampires comes from is one that I’ve not read before. It’s believed that the first vampires came from two Native American chiefs. (See new, or at least new to me.)

I’ve read books where vampires are evil and have humans as their salves. So I was surprised to see this world was flipped and the humans are evil having vampires as salves. After all vampires are stronger and at the top (or should be) of the food chain. Vampires are seen as animals and to be broken to serve the humans. Nicole’s family company has been the worse of the humans, in that they have taken vampires and made them lab rats. Testing, tormenting and farming them out.

Nicole has been living a somewhat sheltered life and has no idea what the company ran by her half bother has been up to. As she works with the MoonBound Clan she learns all the horrors that vampires have been going through and her hate for them slowly dies and a love for one vampire grows.

Larissa Ione has created another dark and sexy world that I can’t wait to continue reading about.

Why I listened instead of reading? Amy Landon. When I saw she was the narrator I wanted to experience BOUND BY NIGHT on audio. I really enjoy Landon’s narration of Jenn Bennett’s Roaring Twenties series on audio so I knew I would enjoy her voice. Amy did another great job with Larissa Ione’s writing and characters. Her voice lends itself well to the male voices as well as the females. The only reason I won’t listen to book 2, CHAINED BY NIGHT is because I have the print copy on my night stand.
