I Like Them Long and Complex!

The other day I was talking with a friend about the lengths of the audiobooks. She was saying that the length of the audiobook intimidates some people. For some, an over 12 hours audiobook is a too long audiobook. I realized I’m completely the opposite. Sometimes I skip audiobooks when I see they are short (less than 10 hours). I like my audiobooks long and I like them complex. What do I mean when I say I like them complex? I like when my audiobooks have many characters, especially if they have two narrators, those are my favorite audiobooks ever.

I also realized my favorite genre on audiobooks is Fantasy. I love to listen to fantasy audiobooks, loooove them! I think I enjoy listening to fantasy audiobooks more than reading the books. This might be because some of the first audiobooks I ever listen to, were The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan and those audiobooks are loooong and have two narrators. The shortest audiobook in that series is 23 hours and 31 minutes long and the longest is 41 hours and 55 minutes.

I’m currently listening to The Heroes by Joe Abercrombie, this one is 22 hours and 44 minutes and it has so many characters that mentioning all of them here will take me a long time. It has only one narrator, but Michael Page does an excellent job bringing them all to life. I’m loving every single minute of it and have only couple of hours left to finish it.

I already have my next audiobook ready, that will be The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson and that one is 45 hours and 37 minutes of greatness and many characters, but the best part is that it has two narrators! Win! Win!
