I received this book for free from Rabid PR in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Betrayed by one of her own and turned into a vampire, hunter Eve is consumed by her hunger for vengeance and has spent five years surviving hell, driven to take the life of the man she once loved. But just as she is about to close in on the hunter-turned-vampire, an event is set in motion that threatens to see him slip beyond her grasp forever—the leader of her bloodline has sent an escort to bring her to the family’s mansion. To a nest of the very creatures she once hunted and loathes.
A vampire assassin hardened by centuries of service, Tor is a man of discipline and loyalty, never straying from his mission or the rules set out for him, and has purged all his weaknesses, including his emotions.
But the moment he meets the broken, fiery female he is to escort to Oslo, something dangerous awakens in him, something possessive and powerful, and when he is pulled into a deadly game of cat and mouse with the man who betrayed her, Tor discovers he will do anything to protect the woman slowly claiming his heart and give her the vengeance she desires—even break all the rules.
Can Eve embrace her new vampire nature in order to have her revenge and find a reason to live again in Tor? Can Tor and Eve stop the man who betrayed her and the deaths of thousands of innocents? Or will he succeed in creating a new army of hybrid vampires who will rise up against the purebloods?
Let me start off by saying that Hunger is my first book in Vampires Realm series and while it read just fine as a stand alone I felt like I missed a few things by not having read the previous books. For example the use of terms like Chosen Daughter and Chosen Son. I pretty much figured out that those titles meant something similar to Princess or Prince but I still wanted a recap on what they meant in this world. It didn’t make the story confusing, I just wanted more detail on the titles.
Felicity Heaton continues to write sexy paranormal romance that is also action packed. Really there’s a bit of something for everyone in Hunger. There’s the hot alpha vampire, Tor. He’s the strong, silent and mysterious type. Oh and yeah he’s smexy as hell. Then there’s the strong heroine, Eve. She’s a human turned vampire that is having a hard time coming to grip with the fact she is now the thing she use to hunt. She’s on a vengeance mission to kill the person that betrayed her, Adam who is also a turned vampire. (Really Eve and Adam?) I had a little trouble with their names. Then there’s the fact her sister’s name is Lilith whose mate is named Lincoln, why not name him Abe (like Cain and Abel)?
Anyway. Besides romance there’s also plenty of fight scenes between the two types of vampires, weaklings and pure-blood to get your blood pumping when your heart is not racing from the lovin’ scenes between Tor and Eve.
Put my dislike for some of the characters’ names aside Hunger was a well-developed novel with a sexy romance between two hunters from different worlds. If you’re looking for a sexy and sometimes bloody vampire paranormal romance with an alpha male that’s sure to make you what to bite him then check out Hunger by Felicity Heaton.
