So Drew and Fable are still dealing with the things that happened in One Week Girlfriend. It’s been about 2 months since they’ve seen each other and they are both miserable without each other. During their time apart Drew has been seeing a shrink to help him deal with his twisted relationship with his step mother, Adele. Thanks to an absentee mother, Fable is still taking care of her younger brother Owen.

Fable and Drew are still so young themselves, he 21 and she 20 but they have the weight of the world on their shoulders. Drew is dealing with his pass and Fable working hard to keep herself and Owen off the streets and feed.

Fable gets a break when she gets a new job at a nice restaurant and gets away from the bar she was working at. She’s made a friend and Drew is back in her life. Things are looking up for her. But there’s still the bitch of a mom she has to deal with.

The romance is still very new and young due to their ages and experience so there is a lot of back and forth does he love, does she love me; plus a lot of sexy time between the sheets. They’re young so sex is always on their minds. But in Second Chance Boyfriend they start to work on their relationship outside the bed too and with their f’ed up lives they are prefect for each other.

The truth about Drew’s stepmother finally comes out and the resolutions are both heartwarming and shocking. Drew’s biggest fear that his dad would hate him is unfounded. His dad steps up and tells Drew it’s not his fault and that is something that Drew really needed to hear.

Drew and Fable have this code word they use when they really need help from the other one, Marshmallow. Cheesy I know but I will never read, say or hear that word again without thinking of them. Especially when Fable uses it at the end when she really needs saving by Drew.

If you’re a fan of the Bared to You series by Sylvia Day I recommend giving Monica Murphy’s Drew + Fable series a try. It’s younger and a little less intense but it has the same sexy and dark feel to it. I’d like to think that if Gideon had found someone like Fable at the age of 21 he might have turned out a little more like Drew and less jerky and stalkerish.

After listening to both books in the series I’m really digging the narration that Katie Judd and Luke Daniels does. This time around there was a 3rd narrator thrown into the mix. Tanya Eby does a very small narration part when we get a small POV from Adele. It’s a very small sampling of Edy’s narration skills but I liked what I heard.

The 3rd book, Three Broken Promises has two different narrators and I hope they do just as good a job as the team of Judd and Daniels did. I’m looking for to listening to Colin and Jen’s story after meeting them inSecond Chance Boyfriend. I’m hoping since Colin is in his late 20s and the fact that he and Jen have known each other for years that the romance and plot will be a little more on the adult level than Drew and Fable’s story.
