Hi, my name is Shea Montgomery, and you may know me from the History Channel. Or, if you’re an insomniac, from one of several other cable stations airing wee-hour specials about whiskey. Or, if you’ve visited New York City and made your way down to TriBeCa to my whiskey bar, The Amber Lounge.
Or you may just like alcohol. Like I do.
I like it so much my nose and mouth were practically made for it. *waits while you get the inner dirty jokes out of your system.* But not just any alcohol…whiskey. And if you’ve been to Scotland, as I have many times due to my lineage and upon invitation of my dear, departed Granddad, you’ll know that Scotch is gold.
With the holidays approaching, I have to say that I think whiskey is the perfect seasonal drink. Mint Juleps are to summer as a snifter of bourbon, neat, is to winter in front of a fire as the tree twinkles in the corner.
Someday I hope to produce my own whiskey, but until then I’m content to drink others’. I found this organic distillery in Chicago called Koval, and in addition to whiskey they make specialty liqueurs. One of them is Chrysanthemum & Honey. I was playing around in the kitchen one day and stumbled upon this drink. Here it is for you to share with your loved ones…or to just hoard for yourself and get nice and toasty as you stare into those crackling flames.

- A solid splash of Chrysanthemum & Honey liqueur
- A dash of Angostura Bitters
- A squeeze of fresh lemon
- Stir and serve over ice
