In New York Times bestselling author Emma Chase's sizzling and hilarious debut novel, Drew Evans - gorgeous, arrogant, irreverent, and irresistibly charming - meets his match in new colleague Kate Brooks.
Drew Evans is handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York's most beautiful women with just a smile. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed? He'll tell you he has the flu. But we all know that's not really true.
Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew's father's investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy's life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.
Tangled is not your mother's romance audiobook. It is an outrageous, passionate, witty narrative about a man who knows a lot about women…just not as much as he thinks. As he tells his story, Drew learns the one thing he never wanted in life, is the only thing he can’t live without.
If you read romance of any kind you've read the typical man whore. You know the one that sleeps with a different chick every night and doesn't want anything to do with love. And there's always that one woman that brings them to their knees. So what makes TANGLED different? It's told from that man whore's POV.
TANGLED is written from Drew's POV and it's written as if Drew is talking to the readers. We start by seeing the near end of the story and Drew walks us back to the beginning before he screws it all up with Kate. And with the story being told by Drew it comes off crass with his blunt language. Because come on when it was from Kate's POV the sex would be a little more "flowery" but to me that's part of the appeal of TANGLED and where a lot of the humor comes from. Drew knows he's a dick and he doesn't apologize for it.
It was fun listening to Drew deal with falling in love for the first time and then trying to get Kate back after he really screws things up with her. And it was super fun to see this romance trope from the other side where we got to hear what the man whore was going through.
Sebastian York has made it to my must listen to again list. He has a very sexy voice and I think he is a big part of why I enjoyed TANGLED on audio. He pulled of the cocky of Drew and did a pretty good job with Kate. But I think with his strong masculine voice he is most likely suited for books that are told from the male POV. I can't wait to listen to Sebastian again.
It’s simple guy logic: If a woman is angry? It means she cares. If you’re in a relationship and a chick can’t even be bothered to yell at you? You’re screwed. Indifference is a woman’s kiss of death. It’s the equivalent of a man not interested in sex. In either case—it’s over. You’re done.
“For God's sake, don't let her watch Cinderella. What kind of example is that? A mindless twit who can't even remember where she left her damn shoe, so she has to wait for some douchebag in tights to bring it to her? Give me a frigging break!”
Mackenzie raises her hand proudly. “I have a bagina.” I smirk. “Yes, you do sweetheart. And someday, it’s gonna help you rule the world. ”
“She talks like you. It’s not every day you hear a four-year-old say Prince Charming is a douchebag who’s only holding Cinderella back.” "That’s my girl.”
"You are driving me crazy." "Crazy like you want to rip open my shirt again?" "No crazy like the itch of a yeast infect that won't go away."
Take a listen!
